The Analyzing Mommy

Applying the Principles of ABA to Parenthood

I'm Gretchen and I'm a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), Credentialed Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and Teaching Mentor, Professor of Special Education and Autism and a mom of two beautiful girls, one of whom has special needs. I have worked in special education for almost 20 years and have experience with children birth through adult transition age. I have worked in home programs, school districts and private preschool settings. I am a doctoral student, studying Educational Leadership and my focus areas are parent involvement and satisfaction with special education services, school district/family communication and inclusion of children with special needs in the schools.

It is my hope that my experience - academic, professional and real life - can provide support for families of children with disabilities across stages of their parenting journeys. My approach is founded on the science of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and research in the field, but I also understand the realities of raising a child with special needs in today’s world. If we all support each other, our lives will be much richer. I’m so happy you’re here because we are all in this together.
